Wreck-It Ralph

For thirty years, Ralph has been the bad guy in his video game.  For once, he just wants to be accepted and liked.  To prove he is a good person and not just a fiend, he embarks on a bold adventure between all types of games, making both friends and enemies.  He soon leads an evil enemy into their world, and must team up with his friends to stop it.

I really enjoyed watching Wreck-It Ralph, with its cute jokes and interesting plot twists.  I would give it a 9 out of 10 rating.  I think all kids could watch this movie. The humor was clean, and so was the language.  The little violence it had was minimal, and it wasn't graphic.

Detail was definitely paid attention to.  The video game's characters took on jerky movements, similar to those found in old games, which I thought was pretty cool.  There were also many real-life video game references too, such as a mushroom from Super Mario and actual characters from real games such as Bowser, Q*bert, Pac-Man, and Frogger.

If you're looking for a cute movie to watch with your family, I would definitely recommend Wreck-It Ralph.  It was better than any animated family movie I've seen in a while.

Book Review: Dark Life by Kat Falls

http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328837536l/7027735.jpg
Dark Life is set in a dystopian future where people live in stack cities, apartment buildings after apartment buildings are scrunched close together, and nobody has land of their own. Every inch of land in America is devoted to city and places where people live. So where is food harvested, since there is no room for farms? On the ocean floor.

Ty, the narrator, is the one of the settlers on the ocean floor, and has always helped his parents farm livestock and undersea plants. That is, until Gemma shows up, a Topsider, seeking her long-lost brother. But after a homestead is wrecked by the Seablite Gang, the government cut the territory's supplies off until they catch the members of the gang, dead or alive. Ty has to fight for his home, the only one he has ever known.

This might be something you'd want to read if you enjoyed the Hunger Games. I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Life and plan to buy the next book in the series, Rip Tide, as soon as possible.

It is a fairly easy read, and I would say ages eleven and up should read it, just because of a few kisses that aren't described in detail and some violence. There is no foul language, unlike many other young adult books.

I'd give it a 9 out of 10 overall because of the character maturity, it was well written, and I just couldn't put it down.

One Girl's Take On Kirby's Epic Yarn

Kirby's Epic Yarn is a fun game about a pink japanese anime video game character named Kirby. Kirby, though not as popular as Mario and Donkey Kong, is still just as good. Kirby is a pink "ball" with oversize red ovals for feet. Kirby has the most adorable expressions on his or her face. This game features Kirby finding a way into Patch Land,a place unknown to Dream Land, Kirby's home.

There are many different characters in this game, and I am going to tell you about a few. Angie is not a character you can control very much. She is the guardian angel of video games, a  transporter with wings. Summoned by pressing A on the Wii Remote, Angie will carry you to the other player (in 2 player mode). Angie will also come to your rescue if you fall in a pit or hole but she will drop your beads along the way (beads are basically your money in this game, and you can collect them during any courses you play). You can press 2 on your Wii Remote to make Angie fly faster.

Prince Fluff is who the second player will play as. Prince Fluff is the prince of Patch Land, and the one who meets Kirby at the beginning of the game.

Dom Woole is the landlord of the Patch Land apartments, and will give you an apartment at the beginning of the game. You can also decorate your apartment with furniture you collect during the courses. There are also the owners of the furniture and fabric shops, but you don't meet them very much.

Also, you will have neighbors who will move in next door, and you can play games with them. The two neighbors are:
Zeke- You find all of his hidden friends in a certain stage.
Beadrix-You have to find a certain amount of beads in a certain amount of time.

There is also Yin-Yarn, the evil sorcerer, who is the reason Patch Land is all ripped up and the reason Kirby is in Patch Land.

Kirby can also transform into other objects or vehicles. They are: a car for dashing, a snake for going though small spaces, a spring for jumping high, a parachute for drifting to the ground slowly, and a weight for ground-pounding. You can also turn into a submarine for swimming underwater, a ball for swinging, and another car for pulling zippers. But those were actually just special action transformations. Real transformations are: a Tank, a flying saucer, an off-roader,and much more!

Get a sneak peek of the game here.

This game can have up to two players. It is rated E for everyone, but it has a very low difficulty level, so it is a perfect game for any smaller child. I personally think you can still play it if you are older, but you will get through the game very quickly. This game is only available for Wii.

My First Take

Hi, I'm Just One Girl who loves to be entertained. My favorite form of entertainment is reading, so you will see a lot of posts about books : ) I'll mainly be posting about movies (family and kid movies), music (lots and lots of it), video games (I'm a gamer), books (like I said, my favorite kind of entertainment), and TV shows. I'll try to keep my blog posts about these subjects, but sometimes I'll just have to talk about something else : )

I live in Florida and am in fifth grade. I love science and social studies, but reading is still up there too : D My favorite football team is Alabama, but I don't like Auburn : ( I love to be in the water. I don't like to play sports, but I like to watch them.

Thanks for reading.
